For most, New Zealand is a land synonymous with one grape and one grape only, Sauvignon Blanc. They tend to be sassy and wild live up to their savage moniker: flavors of tropical and grapefruit & grass wrapped up with a whiff of cilantro and hint of flintiness. It's easy to forget that is gorgeous little maritime island with an abbundance of natural resources (ski in the morning, surf in the afternoon anyone?), has so much more to offer! Cool climate varieties thrive here as well: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris and even Cabernet Sauvignon.
